“We support Sustain Southern because we believe that Maine’s future depends on long-term, coordinated planning that crosses many lines including municipal, county and regional,“ says Mary Mayo, Development Director. “It is vital that such planning also incorporate the transportation, housing, recreational and economic requirements of Maine’s population.”
GrowSmart Maine is partnering with both HUD-funded sustainable community projects in Maine – Sustain Southern Maine and the Washington-Aroostook Plan for Sustainable Development – because they believe these processes are critically important to both regions.
GrowSmart Maine’s focus is on preserving Maine’s “Quality of Place.” What does Quality of Place mean? They believe you can answer that for yourself by asking why you stay in Maine. If you are a part-timer, what keeps you coming back? That is Quality of Place.
