“We believe that there is strength in numbers, especially when there is a consensus on direction and efforts,” says Jim Gulnac, Sanford Planning Director. “At over 20,000 people, Sanford is a large community located right in the middle of the Southern Maine region. The viability and health of the region is very important to us. While the individual organizations and members of the Partnership need to retain their individuality, a regional consensus will produce sustainability.”
The Town of Sanford has been the recipient of numerous EPA Brownfields Grants, a recent Environmental Merit Award, and is one of twenty-three communities/organizations in the country to receive an EPA Pilot Planning Grant for sustainability. Sanford is in the final phases of this project and the report will soon be available on at www.sanfordmaine.org.
