Steep Falls is a pleasant rural neighborhood on Route 113. We will be providing concepts for re-energizing the area through proposed redevelopment of a vacant mill property, improved bike/pedestrian access to existing roads, and the potential for mixed-use development. The implications of a scheduled bridge widening in the neighborhood will also be examined.
We met with property owners, municipal staff and technical experts March 13th to develop ideas for this site. A summary of the opening portion of this workshop including presentations and discussion is available here. The lessons learned from Standish can be found here.
A public workshop was held May 30th, at the Standish Municipal Offices. At this meeting three posters were presented reflecting the work done at the workshop in March. The first depicted an overall map of the area
and showed a potential layout of future development. The second showed potential cross sections
of the major roads and the town common. The third depicted alternate scenarios
for the land facing on the town common and for the portion of the Sanborn mill property abutting the rail road tracks.
Revisions were done based on the received feedback and as part of a parallel planning effort looking at the Mountain Division Line. These revisions resulted in new versions of the overall map
and the cross sections
